I want to join the Band at Smitha, but I don’t know how to play an instrument or read music!  That’s OK!  We teach you how to do it all!  You do not need ANY previous experience to join.

Can I join more than one music class?  Yes!  You may choose Band AND Chorus or Band AND Orchestra

If I do not join a music class, then what will I do?  You will be assigned two of the other Connections classes. (Art, PE /Health, or Engineering Technology).

Will Band take up a lot of time after school? No.  There are only 3 after school concerts. Since Band is held during the school day it will not interfere with football, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, etc.

How do I pick my instrument?  Students will have the opportunity to try all the Band instruments at our Instrument Test Drive on Saturday, August 10. Please DO NOT purchase an instrument at this time.  You need to try the instruments at our Instrument Test Drive.  Details coming soon!

How much will it cost? Band has a $35 Starter Package to cover the method book and uniform polo.  If you choose Band AND Chorus, the combined cost is $45.  Additional instrument supplies will be purchased by parents.  We will provide more information after the Instrument Test Drive.

If you’ve ever wanted to join the Band and learn to play Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba or Percussion, then this is YOUR chance!
